Reviews
My visit to Rengaya in North Sydney was a true treat. The quality of their wagyu cuts was outstanding, matched only by their fresh and delightful sashimi. Notably, the scampi was a standout for me, offering a burst of exquisite flavors. Rengaya's commitment to offering an exceptional Japanese BBQ experience is evident, making it a definite recommendation for those who appreciate top-quality dining.
It's expensive but I must say the food worths the price, especially the premium meat. The atmosphere is okay, just a bit noisy during peak hours and we sat next to a table which was full of noisy teenagers. One thing we didn't like is there was a waiter who talked in strange way... not sure if he's being sarcastic or just absent-minded. For example, when we asked for dessert to come, he said "dexxx??" (I had no clue what he said), then pointed to one of the empty dishes on our table and said with a laughing face "You have already eaten!" We then replied "This is a salad! So the salad was dessert?" Then he replied, again with a laughing attitude "Oh dessert~~~!!!!" Or we may just be too sensitive. Anyway, it's a good restaurant to try overall.
Staff are friendly and attentive to service. We asked for help to take photos for us and they also explained the different types of sashimi on the plate when serving.
Food quality is amazing, plenty of drinks and options for food. Price is somewhat expensive.
Trendy atmosphere and clean bathrooms.
Was absolutely blown away by the experience as a whole.
We were there for our birthdays and they gave us a private room.
The quality of the beef was the best I have ever tasted. Starting with the Tartare was just wow and even though pricey the 9+ was well worth the cost. Genuine melt in your mouth beef.
The service was super quick and the waitresses were very friendly. Ordered a cocktail to start and a sake flight before moving onto a carafe.
Would and have recommended this place to dozens of people.
A unique Japanese restaurant. Wagyu beef for BBQ at your table. Prices moderate. Salad, beef and rice for two 100 Aud.
To be fair, 3.5 stars. Food was alright here, enjoyed the short rib and beef cubes. Very fresh, juicy and tender. The salmon belly and toro sashimi was also quite nice. Major downsides was the sushi, the rice was very soft and a little mushy compared to traditional authentic sushi. Nothing surprising was found with it, just ordinary sushi.
The service was also not pleasant, the female waitress was a little rude. Also when she was trying to ignite the fire of the grill, it wouldn't turn on and she kept turning even though we warned there may be sudden fire spitting out of the grill, she kept on trying to ignite the fire. Then a very large flame suddenly came out which was very dangerous to everyone.
Environment was also quite modern and nice. Atmosphere was fine.
Overall, the food quality did not really match the price paid, mainly came here for the beef, environment. Other foods and the service needed improvement.
It is expensive but the quality and service are first rate. You need to book early to make sure you get a table. The atmosphere is casual which makes it very relaxing to dine here. The staff are very professional and catered well for our needs.
This is probably the best priced Japanese yakitori restaurant in Sydney! The meat’s quality is nice and the environment is clean… Perfect for a date☺️
